This necklace of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh is one of the most valuable jewels not only in India but in the world. Diljit Dosanjh necklace was commissioned by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala in the year 1928. It was made by the famous designer Cartier. The center of this necklace is a big 234 carat De Beers yellow diamond and around it are studded about 3,000 small diamonds. When this necklace was made, its price was about Rs 10 crore. Today the price of this necklace is considered to be around 2.5 billion dollars (about 21 thousand crores rupees).

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala got this necklace made by a French designer. In 1928, he told French jewellery and precious stone maker Cartier that he wanted a necklace with 1,000 carats of diamonds. This was the largest necklace ever made by the French jeweller. Dosanjh got an exact replica of the necklace made by Indian jewellery designer Golcha.
